The CD Extra consists of an audio part according to the specifications of the audio CD. Therefore, this format can be played on any CD player. Subsequently, there is a data part, e. g. for title, texts, videos or background information. This second part (session) can only be read by a CD-ROM drive. The standard is defined in the so-called “Blue Book” by Philips and Sony.
